The Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) is an Australian permanent-residency visa offered to citizens of Pacific countries and Timor-Leste. It is allocated by a random ballot — a lottery — and it is one of the very few permanent-migration routes open to Timorese.

How it works

• Each year a limited number of places are made available across the eligible countries, including Timor-Leste.
• You first register in the ballot during an official registration window. Registration is deliberately cheap.
• If your ballot number is drawn, you are invited to apply — you are not yet approved.
• To be granted the visa you generally need to be within the required age range, have a genuine job offer in Australia, and meet English and health/character requirements.

The scam warning that matters most

Because the PEV is a lottery, no agent can improve your chances — and the registration fee is small. Anyone charging you a large fee to “secure a place”, or promising you will be selected, is running a scam. Register only through the official Australian Government (Department of Home Affairs) channel, and check the current windows with SEFOPE.
