Australia — PALM scheme
Work in Australian agriculture, meat processing, hospitality and aged care via approved employers — short (up to 9 months) or long term (up to 4 years).
How it works
PALM (Pacific Australia Labour Mobility) lets Timorese workers fill Australian jobs employers cannot fill locally. Workers are placed with government-Approved Employers, who arrange the visa and much of the travel. Timor-Leste selects and prepares workers through SEFOPE’s work-ready pool.
Who it is for
- Usually 21 or older, healthy, and able to meet character and health checks.
- Selected from the SEFOPE work-ready pool — you register your interest and are put forward for roles.
- Basic English helps; some roles and the aged-care stream need more.
How to apply — the safe way
- Register your interest with SEFOPE and complete work-ready preparation.
- An Approved Employer selects you for a role; they arrange the visa and travel.
- You travel, work under an Australian contract, and are paid Australian award wages.
🛡 Stay safe: Register and check every step through SEFOPE — the Secretariat of State for Vocational Training and Employment — never through a private “fixer”. A legitimate overseas job never asks a worker to pay a recruitment or placement fee (the employer pays). You may pay only official costs like your passport, and government test or medical fees.
