Korea’s Employment Permit System (EPS) allows workers from partner countries to take jobs in South Korea, mainly in manufacturing, agriculture, fishing and construction. Wages are high by regional standards, and it is a well-known route across South-East Asia.

The key step: the Korean-language test

EPS selection runs through a Korean-language and skills test (EPS-TOPIK) administered under Korea’s HRD system. Those who pass go onto a roster from which Korean employers select workers. There is no way to buy a place — you earn it by passing the test.

Is it open to Timor-Leste?

Which countries send workers under EPS is set by agreements between Korea and each government, and can change. Check the current status and any test cycles with SEFOPE before you invest time or money in preparation — and treat any private “EPS agent” demanding fees as a warning sign.
