Australia — Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV)

A permanent-residency pathway to Australia, allocated each year by a random ballot (pre-registration), for those with a job offer.

How it works

The Pacific Engagement Visa offers permanent residence in Australia to a limited number of people from Pacific countries and Timor-Leste each year. Places are drawn by a random ballot: you register when the ballot is open, and if selected you may apply — with an eligible Australian job offer among the requirements.

Who it is for

  • Within the age range set by the ballot, born in (or with a parent born in) an eligible country including Timor-Leste.
  • Selected in the annual ballot, then able to secure an eligible job offer in Australia.
  • Meet English, health and character requirements set by Australian Home Affairs.

How to apply — the safe way

  1. Register in the PEV ballot while it is open (a small official registration fee applies — pay only the government site).
  2. If your registration is selected, you are invited to apply for the visa.
  3. Apply with your job offer and supporting documents through Australian Home Affairs.

🛡 Stay safe: Register and check every step through SEFOPE — the Secretariat of State for Vocational Training and Employment — never through a private “fixer”. A legitimate overseas job never asks a worker to pay a recruitment or placement fee (the employer pays). You may pay only official costs like your passport, and government test or medical fees.
